Global Mental Health

I was fortunate enough to conduct research on the barriers to accessing and using mental health services for the Palestine people residing in refugee camps in Jordan (qualitative study).

We presented our findings in Amman in the 2016 Lancet Palestinian Health Alliance Conference. We will also be presenting our paper (which has been accepted for publication in the Lancet) at the 2017 Biennial International Conference in Mental Health at Cambridge University.

I have also co-authored a book chapter with the President of the World Psychiatry Association Professor Dinesh Bhugra on suicidal behaviour in immigrants. I often receive invitations to deliver talks on the mental health of people who are displaced by conflict in their countries of origin and I have worked closely with the Non-Governmental Organisation Medical Aid for Palestinians.
